Can I update my CV without disrupting my submitted application? (BCG)

Hi everyone,

I recently submitted an application through BCG career portal. The application is under review (screening results are on the 06/25). I’ve since noticed I’d made a mistake on a date and I’d like to update my CV with a more accurate version. There’s a “documents” section in my candidate profile where I was previously able to upload an additional document.

If I replace or update my CV in that documents section, does it risk affecting or disrupting my submitted application in any way? Has anyone done this without issues?

Thanks a lot for any insight!

Hi there,

I think easiest is to give BCG HR a quick call to explain the situation.

The changed detail will probably not change your fit but that way you are maximum professional.

Short answer: updating the CV in the documents section will not disrupt your submitted application.

BCG locks the actual application at submission, but the profile documents area is separate. Recruiters usually pull the CV that sits in your profile at the time they review you. Replacing the file there is normal and safe.

Two tips:

• upload the corrected CV once, cleanly

• don’t email HR about the mistake unless it was something major

Hi there! Two things, one practical and one to put your mind at rest.

On the mechanics, if you do want to make the change, the documents section itself usually tells you whether you can replace or add a file, so you can simply upload the corrected version there.

On the substance, which is what I would actually focus on: a corrected date is immaterial. Screening is about the shape of your profile, not a single field, and no one is rejected because a date moved by a few months, especially when the change makes the CV more accurate. So fix it cleanly if you can, but do not let it become a source of stress. It will not be what decides the outcome.

Hope it helps. Good luck with the process!

Hi there,

You should check directly on the portal whether you can submit additional documents or replace existing ones. If they can, then I would assume it's fine.

Otherwise, if the difference is not significant, it might not be worth making the change.

Best,
Cristian
