Back to overview

Can I ask McKinsey to move my first-round interview to December? I’m a third-year bachelors student. A former McKinsey consultant forwarded my CV, and I’ve since passed Solve. First-round interviews are scheduled for 10–20 November, and I haven’t booked a slot yet.

I’ve never done a case interview. With university exams, I can spend 3–4 hours a day preparing, which gives me roughly 5–15 days of practice depending on the slot. I’m also considering a one-year UK master’s and could apply next year for a September 2028 start

Has anyone interviewing with McKinsey been able to move their first round outside the advertised window because of exams? If early December is unavailable, would you take the latest November slot with that amount of preparation, or reapply next year (which could mean no rejection for the next round)? If you’ve reapplied, did your Solve result carry over?
