Becoming an interviewer at McK

Can you interview people as an associate 1 or 2 at the firm? Or do you need to be formally promoted to Engagemnet manager before you can start interviewing?

Ex-McKinsey / 100% offer rate / LBS / Principle driven / Real case/ If you get the interview, you should get the offer!

Hi there. Depends on what role the candidate is applying for. If the candidate joins as analyst, he can be interviewed by associate or engagement manager. If you join as associate, most cases you'll be interviewed by engagement manager. It's also not unheard of that an incoming associate gets interviewed by a senior associate.

This is for the 1st round. The final round is always conducted by associate partner or partner.

Hope this helps!

Not true. You can get APs and Partners in first round. EMs interviewing in final round.

Hi there,

For the first round a senior associate might interview (they need to have been with the firm for a number of years though). Best way to find out for yourself and your specific situation is to ask around in your office!

Hey there,

Usually, you can become an interviewer after +/- a year depending on your performance rating (some variation applies across offices). No need to be an EM.

Cheers,

The rule is one year of tenure and/or an associate. In the US, I know second year BAs interview BA/summer BAs.

Hey,

this really varies by Office and Practice (e.g. Digital) and also the current need for (new) interviewers.

But yes, it can happen that an Associate interviews an incoming Senior Associate. In general, becoming an interviewer at McK also depends on your performance and openness towards the role.

Cheers!
