hello, i just checked my bcg portal today i had my final round interview 2 days ago it changed to application not selected i received no email from the recruiter nothing . could this be a mistake i sent an email to the recruiter for clarification but got no reply has this happened to anyone?
bcg x portal shows application not selected after final round
Hi there,
Once you move past to interviews, each decision is first communicated to the candidate, precisely so no one sees an outcome with no explanation attached, and even more so at later rounds. On that basis i see two options:
- It is not a mistake, and the system was simply updated ahead of the one-to-one communication that would normally reach you first.
- The system was updated in error. This might happen, usually under high volume of applications/decisions, though it is rather unusual.
Either way, the only real step available is to wait to hear back from HR, who can tell you which of the two it is.
Hope it helps and you get back from them soon.
Federico
Hi there,
I would not read into it for now. It's good that you wrote to the recruiter. Let's see what they say.
In the meantime, it would make sense to invest your efforts in advancing other applications.
Best,
Cristian
hey!
This isn’t a mistake. When the BCG portal flips to “application not selected” right after a final round, it almost always means the decision has been made and the rejection email is just delayed. SEA and X are notorious for slow or missing communication, so the silence from the recruiter is unfortunately normal.
The portal status is the real signal. The email can come hours or days later, and sometimes doesn’t come at all. Your follow‑up was the right move; now you just wait for them to reply.
Best, Alessa
Hi there,
First of all, I am sorry to hear about the rejection from BCG!
I would be happy to share my thoughts on your situation:
- First of all, I have to be honest with you, when the portal flips to "application not selected" after a final interview round it is almost always the real outcome, the written email usually just comes a day or two later, or landed in spam, so I would not hold too much hope that it is a system mistake.
- Moreover, this is not the end of the road, BCG lets you reapply after a waiting period, so give yourself a short break, then work on the one or two things that did not land in the final interview round and come back stronger, both to BCG and any other potential target consulting firms - many strong consultants got in on the second try.
