BCG round 1

Just finished by bcg round 1 associate interview. The first interview went poorly but I nailed the second one. What weights does it interview have? Must I get the approval of both to land the round 2?

First, I would say that your perception may not be the same as that of your interviews. Sometimes people think they have done poorly and still end up with an offer.

Second, the interviewers will confer after the interviews and decide jointly whether to put you through to round 2 or not. Some mistakes in a first interview can be excused by a stellar second interview (to a point).

Third, I would advise you to continue focusing on any remaining applications or interviews you had. Since the outcome is now out of your hands, it doesn't pay to dwell on it.

Best of luck.

Both interviewers will fill up an evaluation form, and those scores will be used to evaluate whether or not to pass you to the next round.

In any case, it is over, and it is difficult not to dwell on it but really the best advice is to spend the energy preparing for a potential next round, or in parallel work on other existing opportunities.

Hello there,

In addition to Mihir response, keep studying hard for the second round as the window between the outcome and the next interviews is usually short. If you already know what you have missed, focus on covering this gap.

Best,

Mari

Hi there,

It depends on how poorly the first one went and how great the second one went.

During the first round, they also often give people a second chance if the better performance was truly great (they assume you just got unlucky with the other case / interviewer).

Hope you'll hear back from them soon with good news. In the meantime, all you can do is invest time and effort into other applications.

Best,
Cristian
