BCG Online Assessment Test – Italy (2025 intake)

Hey everyone!

I’m gearing up to apply to BCG’s Italian offices for the 2025 intake and I’m trying to figure out what kind of online assessment they’re currently using.

From what I’ve seen floating around, it could be:

the old-school Potential Test
the newer Casey Chatbot / Online Case Experience
or maybe something totally different

If you’ve taken the BCG online test for Milan or Rome in the last few months, could you share:

Which version showed up? (Potential, Casey, or other)
Any prep tips or resources that actually helped?

Hi there,

BCG Italy is currently using the Casey Chatbot (Online Case Experience) for the 2025 intake. The old Potential Test has been phased out.

The Casey test includes 6–12 questions in a chat-style format—multiple choice, short answers, and written reasoning. You have about 25–30 minutes to complete the case, followed by a 60-second recorded video where you present your final recommendation.

The test assesses business judgment, structuring, data interpretation, and quantitative skills under time pressure. You can’t go back to previous questions.

Prep tips:

Use chatbot-style practice cases from CaseBasix, PrepLounge, or MyConsultingCoach.
Practice structuring (MECE), quick mental math, and interpreting graphs/tables.
Time yourself strictly and rehearse 60-second video summaries.
Use a calculator, pen, and paper during prep.

I would suggest you focus on the Casey Chatbot format, prep under time constraints, and get comfortable with concise communication.

Hey - you might benefit from the resources Francesco (another coach here) has for BCG’s online tests.

Most likely Casey, but if you want to make sure, you can contact the recruiter and ask.

Even so, you will likely have enough time to prepare for the test once you get the invitation.

What I would prioritise in the meantime, if you know you want to get into consulting, is prepping for cases. With these, you'll need more than the typical 2 weeks you get since you're told you'll be invited for the interview. Case practice will also help with the skills that will benefit you in the test practice.

For BCG Italy’s 2025 intake, most recent candidates have reported getting the Casey Chatbot (Online Case Experience), not the old Potential Test. It’s interactive and simulates a case discussion with chatbot-style prompts, often including charts, math, and logic questions with multiple-choice formats.

Best prep is to practice fast, structured thinking with case-style math, get comfortable reading graphs quickly, and stay super clear and concise in your answers. The chatbot often pushes for justifications, so practice writing short, structured explanations too.
