BCG Middle East Final Round

Hi everyone,

2 weeks after conducting my final round of interviews with BCG, I was informed that I would be invited to a third round of interviews. How will this round differ from the previous two, and does this third round of interviews represent a vote of no confidence?

Hi there!

Usually they introduce a third round if they are undecided about the candidate.

This rarely happens.

What it means though is that they really like you, but they are quite limited in terms of how many people they can hire. So they want to make sure they really get the best of people.

The other good news is that typically I see more of these situations turn into an offer rather than a rejection.

The format should be exactly the same as to what you had in your second round (i.e., also senior interviewers). Make sure that if you received any feedback, you work on it as best as you can (hire a coach for a session if you have any doubts).

Best,
Cristian

Hi there,

1) How will this round differ from the previous two.

It depends on the reason why they asked for the extra round. Usually, this happens in two cases:

  1. They are unsure about your performance in the final, and they want you to do an extra interview. In this case, you should expect the usual structure (Fit + Case).
  2. For specific roles, they might want you to have a chat with the person leading the division. This may not involve a case.

If they haven’t mentioned details about the person, most likely it is #1.

2) Does this third round of interviews represent a vote of no confidence?

Even if it is case #1, they still believe you can get an offer, otherwise they would have not bothered to schedule the extra interview.

Good luck!

Hi,
it is usually proposed when one of the 2nd round interviewer is not 100% sure on 1-2 aspects of your performance. It will be crucial to understand what is the gap and work in the next days to improve it. You are going to be assessed mainly on it.

Best,
Antonello

Hi there,

A vote of no confidence is you being done with interviews with no offer.

This is a vote of “we need to see”. Basically, something in the last round was wrong, but close. You need to figure out what is missing and fix it for this final round.

Technically nothing should be different from the prior rounds, in general. However, you should absolutely be ready for them to hit your weakness/question mark hard.

This sometimes happens - it happened to me as well. They usually don't provide feedback on what the doubt is, so the best you can do is trying to perform at your best and that's it. Don't forget that it may not be related to the case, but also to your experience and or likability. Don't get obsessed with it, especially if you don't get prior feedback on what needs to improve.

I got hired even though I was asked to do an extra interview. I know it shakes confidence, but I assure you it's nothing to worry about. Just another opportunity to be known by another partner. The more they get to know you, the better, for you and for them.

Hello,

This is not a vote of no confidence - a vote of no confidence would be them rejecting you, otherwise why spend more time interviewing you? A third round could be indicative of a slightly different process at this office, or that they are deciding between a few candidates in the pool, or that they would like to evaluate you one more time. The format will likely be similar to your second round - case + fit, probably with fairly senior consultants - so I would prepare accordingly. In any case, you absolutely still have a shot!

Ask THEM the question. I.e.. ask them if they will be looking for anything in specific in the third interview, so you can prepare yourself to be at your best.

This is a legitimate question to ask them.
