BCG digital Paris Or BCG generalist Dubai

Hi there,

I have been offered the opportunity to have interviews either with BCG digital Paris or BCG dubai office (generalist).

Which one is the easiest to enter? As background, 2 years in industry and 2 years in tiers 2 consulting company as senior consultent.

I don’t have particular interest for digital but still find to join BCG digital if I could have good exit opportunities.

Best regards,

A

Hi there,

I am not sure that basing the decision on the easier to join is a good criterion. It would be difficult to predict in any case without insider information, given that it will depend on the demand and supply for the two offices in this particular period.

I would structure the decision as follows:

Step 1: What would you prefer, generalist or digital?

  • If you have a clear answer, go for that, otherwise

Step 2: What would you prefer, Paris or Dubai?

  • If you have a clear answer, go for that, otherwise

Step 3: Contact consultants (or even better, Alumni) for the two options.

  • Try to get insights on what each option implies

Best,

Francesco

Hey there,

I would not decide based on ‘’what is easier to enter'', since I believe the level BCG asks of its consultants is homogeneous across the globe (just like McKinsey).

I'd rather think along the lines of

  • types of projects and personal interests
  • network in the different regions
  • work/lifestyle for each region
  • comparison of expat lives
  • salary and tax implications

Cheers,

Florian

Hi there,

First of all, congrats on the interview invite!

Now, BCG Generalist and BCG Digital are very different roles. Paris and Dubai, as you know, are very different cities/countries/cultures.

Please don't play this game of odds - both are extremely competitive!

Choose the role + office that fits your career/life goals best…it's really not worth playing this odds game!

Last point: Do consider your level of French/English/Arabic. If all are great then great! If not, you do need to consider this when thinking about odds of success (both in the interview and in the role itself).

Good luck!

Hi!

It's hard to answer your question as it depends on plenty of different variables like your skills, their recruiting needs, etc.

I would however base your decision on what you like more and then apply accordingly.

Best,

Anto

If you don't have “particular” interest in Digital - then you might not be able to make it through in the process.

In terms of difference in difficulty - it is impossible to quantify it. You should pick the role where you have a better chance. Here it seems you have a better chance at generalist since you are not much into Digital.

Exit opportunities from BCG Digitial will be different from BCG General. General will provide you a with a wider basket of opportunities. However some Digital-specific opportunities will be out-of-reach for the generalist.

Happy to discuss more details over message.
