BCG dedicated link to apply

Hello,

Recently someone referred me to BCG and I received a dedicated link to apply. The email doesn’t have a deadline by when I have to apply. does anyone know how much time do I usually have before I apply?

Also, when I click on the link, there is nothing special, it just takes me to the career site to choose a position, login and apply. Why would it be considered a dedicated  link then ?

I am asking because I applied to the position about 12 days after we received the email (that’s when the person who referred me forwarded to me the email he received from BCG). I am just worried I applied late and that’s why the link takes me to the career website directly. Thank you!

Hi there,

I think this is an interesting question that may be relevant for many people. I would be happy to share my thoughts on it:

  • First of all, I would advise you not to worry about any deadlines. You have received a referral, and BCG will certainly ensure that it is linked to your application.
  • Moreover, I would highly advise you to reach out to the recruiting team, as there is likely a technical issue with the link provided to you.

If you would like a more detailed discussion on how to best prepare for your upcoming interviews, please don't hesitate to contact me directly.

Best,

Hagen

Hi there,

1) The email doesn’t have a deadline by when I have to apply. does anyone know how much time do I usually have before I apply?

This depends on the position and country – usually they mention online if there is a deadline for a specific position.

2) Also, when I click on the link, there is nothing special, it just takes me to the career site to choose a position, login and apply. Why would it be considered a dedicated link then?

You can check if the final url you are redirected to is different from the url in the email. If that’s the case, the link might have expired. Most likely that's not the case since it's only been 12 days but you can contact HR to check if there is any issue related to that.

Hi there,

That's indeed strange and confusing.

I'd suggest you reach out to HR and ask. There might be a technical issue or it's also possible that the link does have some tracking means even though it might not be immediately obvious.

If you're considering applying to other firms as well to maximize your chances of landing at least one offer, I'm sharing here with you a guide on how to leverage your current networking skills and take them to the next level:

How to network and get referrals

Hi there,

From an IT perspective a link can “contain” a custom URL snippet that tells the site where you're coming from. That's why on some referral links you'll see something like www.website.com/HFJ4K4

You'll arrive at the same place, but it knows where you're coming from.

If you're still unsure, there's no harm in double checking.

I would apply as soon as you can. They've given you the referral link, they're ready for you to apply, so…get moving! (12 days should be perfectly fine)

I suspect that the link comes with a referral attached to it - 14 days is not long, I'm sure that it'll go with the referral.

Good luck!

Hello,

I suggest reaching out to HR at the office you applied to to check both of those questions. It's strange that it doesn't mention a deadline, but it's definitely best for you to be aware of the timelines involved in the process. Regarding the designated link, this could be a technical issue or the link could have expired. Reach out to HR to explain your situation, mentioning that you have a referral

This is one of those questions where the only safe option is to reach out to HR or your contact to get clarification.
