Hi all, I’ve received an invite to BCG’s gamified assessment and was only given a high-level description about assessing workplace-related skills and behaviours. For those familiar with it, how would you recommend candidates prepare and approach the games? Are there any materials or specific areas worth reviewing beforehand?
BCG ASPIRE gamified assessment - what to expect?
This format is just emerging now and there isn't a lot of reliable information about it.
I also don't want to tell you the same things that you've probably already read on blogs from consulting platforms.
My advice instead would be that you reach out to the recruiter and you try to squeeze more details from them. They tend to be quite helpful.
Ask if they can guide you towards similar materials you could practice on. Tell them that you want to ensure you are as prepared as possible because it's such an important opportunity for you.
Best,
Cristian
The ASPIRE assessment is designed to be hard to prepare for. That is intentional.
It is basically a set of mini games that measure how you think and behave. Things like how you make decisions when you don't have all the information, how you handle trade-offs, how you respond when situations change. Each game is testing something specific about how your brain works, not what you know.
Here is the thing. These assessments are built by psychologists to capture your natural tendencies. There is no "right answer" to memorize. Trying to game it usually backfires because inconsistent responses get flagged. The best approach is to just be yourself.
A few tips.
Be well rested and focused when you do it. These games pick up on things like reaction time and decision consistency. If you are tired or distracted, it shows.
Find a quiet place with no interruptions. No phone buzzing, no one walking in. Treat it like a real interview even though it feels like playing games on your laptop.
Read the instructions carefully for each game. A lot of people rush through and then realize halfway that they misunderstood the task. Take the extra few seconds upfront.
Don't overthink. There is usually time pressure built in. Go with your gut instead of second-guessing every click. Part of what they are measuring is how you decide when you can't analyze everything perfectly.
This assessment is a filter, not the final decision. It helps BCG screen for basic cognitive and behavioral fit. You still have case interviews ahead where the real evaluation happens. So don't stress too much. Show up sharp, be yourself, and move through it.
