BCG Application Process

Hi all,

Biochem PhD in the US here with little experience in the consulting/business world. Planning to apply to BCG through a referral but unsure of what exactly the steps of the process are. I understand there is a pymetrics game as part of the initial application and have been preparing for case interviews. What exactly can I expect as far as how the process goes?

Thanks in advance!

The exact process - pertaining to YOU specifically - should have been communicated to you by the recruiter/HR from BCG via email. Processes are not identical across all candidates.

If you are unclear, best to write the same question to the BCG HR - they would be more than happy to help and clarify.

That said, once you clear the Pymetrics test successfully, the HR would give you the next steps - which in all probability will be the interviews themselves. For some candidates, BCG/MBB also offer a mock interview 2-4 weeks before the actual interview to check the prep level and decide if the interviews needs to be postponed.

Hey there,

Once you have the referral, this is the usual process

  1. Aptitude test (either Pymetrics or Casey Chatbot Case)
  2. First-round interviews (several interviews with fit and case part)
  3. Second-round interviews with more senior interviewers (again with fit and case, yet a bit more freestyle)

Cheers,

Florian

Hi there,

Welcome to the journey!

While the process does change based on your location, role, timing, etc. HR will keep you posted during the journey. The most common process is as follows:

  1. Screening (HR call and/or an online assesment)
  2. Round 1 Interviews (Generally 2 interviews, both with case and fit)
  3. Round 2 Interviews (Generally 2 “higher” level interviews i.e. Principal/Partner, both with case and fit)

Make sure you're comfortable with all of the following:

  1. Casing
  2. Fit/Behavioral
  3. Market Sizing
  4. Online Assessments

Good luck and feel free to reach out for any help!

Hello,

The precise process will depend on the office, but in general will likely consist of:

1. Resume and cover letter drop

2. Screening and/or some sort of test (e.g. Pymetrics or Imbellus)

3. First round interviews

4. Second round interviews

It's great that you've started preparing for case interviews - that is a key part of the prep process. In addition, I would recommend doing some prep for any specific test you have to do, as well as the behavioral interview. Also prepare to do some networking during the process - it will help you learn about the firm, and may help your chances of getting a job.
