Bain online assessment 9 multiple choices only

Hi guys, I have been invited for a pre-screening assessment from Bain for a consultant role, it is a 9 multiple-choice question test. The total duration for this assessment is 18 minutes and provided by HireVue.

Majority of the Bain online assessments are SOVA tests, I can't seem to find any information about this 9 multiple choice questions. Just wondering if you have any advice of preparing for this 9 multiple choice test? Has anyone completed it in the past? Thanks for your help.

Hi there,

First of all, congratulations on the invitation from Bain!

I think this is an interesting question that may be relevant for many people. I would be happy to share my thoughts on it:

  • First of all, while I cannot say for certain about Bain's HireVue assessment, generally speaking, most pre-interview assessments are very similar to the reasoning section of the GMAT, where you will be required to solve numerical, verbal, and abstract reasoning exercises.
  • Therefore, I would highly advise you to familiarize yourself with the format and types of questions and utilize any practice materials or mock tests that might be available. Since it is most likely very similar to the GMAT, official GMAT preparation material should suffice if you cannot find any old Bain HireVue assessments.

If you would like a more detailed discussion on how to best prepare for your upcoming Bain interviews, please don't hesitate to contact me directly.

Best,

Hagen

Hi there,

I agree with the other coaches here. It really is as “simple" as doing as many practice tests are you can.

There's no silver bullet here. You have to try each question and answer it to the best of your ability. The more questions/tests you practice beforehand (and review/understand), the better your chances!

I will practice as much as I can, I have a week's time to complete. Thank you, Ian!!!

This should be a reasoning test, GMAT style. I suggest practicing with McKinsey PST or BCG Potential Test simulations (and GMAT preparation material as well, focusing on the math part). Be sure to be used to usual metrics in management (margins, break even, etc. - have a look at the resource - case interview basics section here at preplounge to look a those metrics).
