Bain Dubai

I completed the Bain TestGorilla assessment for Dubai office on April 1st and I haven't heard anything since. I reached out, but only got a generic AI response. This is my second application, last year I also took the test and never got back from them. Any insight would be appreciated.

Unfortunately, this is not uncommon with Bain & Company Dubai / Middle East recruiting lately.

A few honest thoughts:

  • if it has been since April 1st with no human follow-up, it’s probably not the strongest signal
  • but Middle East recruiting can also be quite inconsistent in terms of communication and timing
  • especially after online assessments, some candidates simply remain in limbo for a while without formal closure

The fact this also happened last year may suggest one of two things:

  • either your assessment performance is around the cutoff but not strong enough to move forward
  • or more likely in the current market, they are being extremely selective on interview slots/headcount

Also, the generic AI response unfortunately doesn’t mean much. Many firms are automating first-level recruiting communication now.

My advice would be:

  • don’t wait passively for this process
  • continue applying broadly (including Tier-2 firms and other offices if relevant)
  • if you haven’t already, try to build some direct networking connections with consultants/recruiters in the office rather than relying only on portal applications

And one important point: silence after TestGorilla does not necessarily mean your profile is weak. In the current ME market, there are simply many strong candidates competing for fewer spots than before.

So I wouldn’t overinterpret it personally — but I also wouldn’t rely on this application reopening suddenly.

Hard to give specific insight without more context. Could be a few things, profile not standing out enough, role on hold, or pipeline already full. Dubai is a tough market right now, soft referrals are usually the more reliable way to get your foot in the door.
Happy to give more tailored guidance if useful. Good luck !

hi there,

Bain Dubai is slow this cycle, so your situation is unfortunately common. TestGorilla results often sit in the queue for weeks because the office only moves candidates forward when staffing needs open up. A generic reply usually means your application is still in the system, not rejected, just not actively reviewed yet.

For second‑time applicants, the pattern is the same: long silence unless a team is hiring. Dubai is extremely selective right now, and they often batch‑review candidates once a month or even less.

Your best move is to keep applying elsewhere and treat Bain as a long‑shot pipeline rather than something you wait on.

Sorry about the silence. This pattern is common with Bain Dubai right now.

Headcount has tightened in 2026 and many candidates who clear the test get shelved, not formally rejected. The AI response is typical, recruiters often only engage when a test pass matches a live role.

Cold applications to Bain Dubai have very low conversion rates now. Most hiring is through referrals and campus recruiting.

For next round, get a referral, that's the biggest lever. Broaden to Doha, Riyadh, plus BCG and McKinsey Dubai. Strengthen your CV between attempts.

Don't give up, just play smarter.

Good luck.

Hi there,

I'm sorry to hear.

This must be frustrating, and it's rather unprofessional not to get any response at all.

Do follow up with them, and if you don't hear back, you can assume the same result as last year. Unfortunately, there's not much you can do at this point but put your focus on developing other applications.

Best,
Cristian
