Hi there,

Those status changes are usually internal system labels and don’t reliably signal a pass or rejection.

“Under review” typically means your application is actively being looked at.
“CC MBR external” is most likely an internal routing code (for example, referring to a committee member or external reviewer stage). When it switches back to “under review,” it often just means your application has moved back into the main workflow after being reviewed or discussed.

In short, this kind of status change is usually administrative rather than evaluative. It does not automatically mean good or bad news.

If you haven’t received a formal update from recruiting, assume the process is still ongoing. The only meaningful signals are direct communication from the recruiter.

Evelina

Let me give you a quick take on what is likely going on.

"CC MBR External" usually means someone beyond the initial screener was reviewing your profile. That is generally a positive sign because it means you got past the first filter.

Going back to "Under Review" does not necessarily mean something bad. Your application likely just moved to the next step in the pipeline. These status trackers are internal workflow tools, not designed to give candidates a clear picture.

What to do: Do not read too much into every status change. If it has been more than two to three weeks with no communication, send a short polite follow up to the recruiter. Other than that, keep preparing as if you are going to get the interview call. That is the only thing within your control.

Feel free to reach out if you want help preparing while you wait.

hey there :)

That usually just reflects internal routing in the system. CC MBR external often means your file was shared with a specific reviewer or committee member, and going back to under review typically means it is still being assessed.

It does not signal rejection or acceptance by itself. Status changes are often administrative.

If you want, share the firm and role and I can give a bit more context.

best,
Alessa :)

I wouldn't read into it.

What it most likely suggests is that your application is currently under review and that you're going to hear back soon.

Hi there,

I'd suggest not reading too much into this. Nothing is certain.
