Why are the bottles given away as gifts not considered for the annual change of bottles? I mean these are 24 bottles and they are not considered for this question.

I'm sorry but where exactly in the case are you seeing this?
I see multiple references of the 2 bottles given away through the case.
In particular: “My own consumption: 2 bottles per week to drink, plus 2 per month to give away as gifts”
