Am I done with my Bain process?

Lateral recruiting:

I had 3 rounds with Bain India SMs and then HR scheduled another round with a Bain Partner (saying this will be the final round).

The Partner couldn't make it as he was busy and then another round was scheduled with an Associate Partner for which I appeared.

One day after the 4th round, the Bain HR reached out and asked for contact details of references (people who have been my supervisors with me in the past)

Does this mean I have been selected or is there something else? Not sure what the process is?

It sounds like you are done (finally)!

It sounds promising - if they spent 4 rounds that 4th round was likely a “final confirmation”. Also, if they're looking for your references, that likely means they're just double-checking things.

I don't like counting chickens before they hatch, but I'd be cautiously quite optimistic if I were you.

Hi there,

I agree with Ian that this seems promising.

Most likely the process is completed, however, you will have to wait for the HR confirmation to be completely sure, occasionally some consulting companies do an extra interview in case they have any doubts.

Good luck!

Hi there,

First of all, congratulations on the (most likely) offer!

This is indeed an interesting question which is probably relevant for quite a lot of users, so I am happy to provide my perspective on it:

  • Generally speaking, it seems to me like you have successfully passed all interviews as the background check phase will solely be held for successful candidates.
  • Still, I would advise you to wait for the recruiter to inform you about the situation. In case you have not heard anything within 2 weeks, you might, very politely, call the recruiter and ask about the status of your interview process.

In case you want a more detailed discussion on how to best prepare your upcoming career entry at Bain, please feel free to contact me directly.

I hope this helps,

Hagen

Yes, you should be done with it and things look positive. Although I understand your question, it is strange that they ask for your references at this point, usually they would give you a conditional offer (i.e. conditional on background check), and only afterwards go after the references.
