401k paycheck percentage at McKinsey

Hello! I have kind of an odd question - what percentage of a paycheck is someone allowed to contribute to their 401k at mckinsey? For example, at my job, the max allowed amount per paycheck is 25% Is there any benefit to stretching out contributions across the whole year?

Hi,

at McKinsey (US), you can generally contribute up to the IRS annual limit, and the firm allows you to put a very high percentage of each paycheck toward your 401k (often up to 75–100%). Whether you spread it across the year or front-load depends on how the firm match works. If the match is per paycheck, then it’s better to spread contributions evenly so you don’t miss out on matching dollars later in the year.

best, Alessa :)

Hi there!

This might depend on the region / office. It's best to ask HR directly. They should be able to provide you a clear answer or send you in the right direction.

Best,
