Hi,

I can support the answers of my fellow consultant colleagues. Buy some (don't get too many in order not to stress yourself) case practice books and get a understanding for the structured approach/ frameworks used. Afterwards practice solving the case in front of others in order to get comfortable with a interview situation, e.g. via PrepLounge. Eventhough it might feel uncomfortable at first through yourself into these situation to gain confidence and get feedback on how you can improve further. Sometimes it is also helpful to have a third person just to observe and share detailed feedback on presentation style.

Best wishes, Bianca

Hello! Thank you for the question!

My biggest tips would be to get as many case practices as possible. Personally I used Preplounge and practiced with my university classmates during my interview prep period.

In addition, would be also beneficial if you:

  • Research on which companies you would like to apply, and search which interview method they are using (interviewer-led vs. interviewee-led). This will have an impact on how the interviews are structured.
  • Practice structured problem solving and communication. Materials on that are available online or from Preplounge (e.g., YouTube has great videos)
  • Brush up business acumen. Personally I read newspapers and business books. This will help you in brainstorming questions and overally your presence
  • Some book recommendation to start: Case interview secrets by Victor Cheng, The McKinsey way and Valuation

I hope it helps :) Hope you the best in your interview preparation  journey

Best wishes,

My

Hi there,

thank you for your question. The main task in case interviews is “being you” and “structure”. The interview situation is for getting to know each other and figure out from both sides, if this is a fit. “Structure” for the case you can train with some case examples as you can find for example on preplounge.com. I remember I was really nervous in front of my case interview but being yourself and having a little fun to do the case is a big advantage. Hope that will help you a bit otherwise please let me know :)

Kind regards

Carolin
