Let’s say you’re going for something in investment banking, consulting, or private equity—those are high-pressure, fast-paced, team-heavy environments. So your answer should show that you’re comfortable in that kind of setting without just sounding like you're saying what they want to hear.

Here’s how you might shape it:

“I do best in environments that are fast-moving and intellectually demanding, where I’m surrounded by people who push high standards and where collaboration is key. I enjoy working on tough problems, especially when I’m able to bounce ideas off others and learn from how different people approach challenges. I also like having clear goals and being trusted to take ownership—but with support and feedback along the way. You can adapt that depending on your true preferences, but that sort of answer shows you know how you work, that you’ve thought about it, and that you’d be a good culture fit without sounding robotic or rehearsed.
