What motivates you to do your best work?

Here’s how I would answer this in a Personal Fit interview, and how I coach candidates to approach it:

For me, what truly motivates me to do my best work is ownership combined with impact. I am at my strongest when I feel that the outcome genuinely matters and that I am accountable for driving it forward. Knowing that my analysis, recommendation, or decision can influence a broader direction pushes me to go beyond the minimum and really think things through.

I’m also highly motivated by steep learning environments. When I’m surrounded by smart, driven people and exposed to complex problems, I naturally raise my standards. I don’t want to just complete tasks, I want to improve how I think and operate. That kind of environment makes me more disciplined and more ambitious in the quality of my work.

Finally, I’m motivated by clarity of purpose. When I understand why something matters, whether it’s for a client, a team, or the business, I commit fully. That connection between effort and meaningful outcome is what consistently brings out my best performance.
