Superday prep

I have a Superday coming up for an investment banking role and want to make sure I’m ready. I know it usually involves multiple interviews in one day, covering both technical and behavioral questions. What’s the best way to structure your preparation? Any tips?

Congrats on landing a Superday – that’s already a big achievement!

From my experience, it helps to structure prep into three buckets:

  1. Technicals: Focus on the core areas (valuation, accounting, M&A, LBOs). Practice explaining concepts out loud until it feels natural.
  2. Behaviorals: Prepare 5–6 strong stories (Why IB, Why this firm, teamwork, leadership, conflict). Keep them flexible so you can adapt.
  3. Stamina & Mindset: It’s a marathon day. Get enough rest, stay hydrated, and remind yourself: you’ve already earned the seat, now it’s about showing personality and fit.

Pro tip: do a mock run of 3–4 mock interviews a day or two before to build endurance.

And remember it’s not about knowing everything, but about showing you’re someone they want to work with at 2am. You’ve got this! 🙌

Hey there,

big congrats on the Superday, that’s a huge step. The way I like to frame prep is to think about consistency. You’re going to be meeting a lot of people back-to-back, and each of them will walk away with a gut feel about you. So the goal isn’t to crush one interview and then fade, it’s to keep showing up sharp, professional, and personable across the whole day.

For technicals, you probably already know the main topics, so at this point it’s less about cramming new material and more about making sure you can explain concepts cleanly under pressure. On the behavioral side, I’d polish a handful of stories that you can bend in different directions depending on the question. That way you’re not memorizing, you’re adapting.

The part a lot of candidates underestimate is energy management. It’s a long day, and by the last interview your brain will want to check out. The people interviewing you late in the day notice if you’re dragging, so treat it almost like an endurance event. Pace yourself, stay relaxed, and reset mentally after each conversation.

If you keep your prep balanced and go in with the mindset that each person is a fresh chance to make a good impression, you can do great.

Best,

Simon

Hey!

For Superday prep, you want to balance technical mastery with polished behavioral answers. On the technical side, focus on the fundamentals that always come up: valuation methods, accounting linkages, DCF drivers, and how the three financial statements connect.

Practice explaining these clearly and concisely, since interviewers care as much about how you communicate as about whether you know the answer. Do a few timed drills where you answer questions out loud to simulate the real pressure of back-to-back interviews.

On the behavioral side, prepare 5–6 strong stories from your experiences that highlight teamwork, leadership, resilience, and attention to detail. Use these stories flexibly so you can adapt them to different questions. Since you’ll meet multiple interviewers, consistency and energy matter just as much as content, so pace yourself and stay engaged throughout the day.

Mock interviews with friends or mentors can help you get comfortable shifting between technical and personal questions quickly, which is exactly what the Superday demands.

Hey!

For a Superday, the key is to structure your preparation so you can handle both technical and behavioral questions confidently while staying fresh throughout the day. Start by reviewing core technical topics like accounting, valuation, and financial modeling, making sure you can explain concepts clearly and perform quick mental calculations.

Simultaneously, prepare your behavioral stories using a structured approach, focusing on leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving examples. Practice mock interviews with peers or mentors under timed conditions to simulate the day, and plan short mental breaks to stay sharp between rounds. Being organized, confident, and ready to pivot between technical and behavioral discussions will help you perform consistently across multiple interviews.
