Morgan Stanley HireVue

Hi all,

I just received a HireVue invitation from Morgan Stanley. Does anyone know what the format is like? Do they mainly stick to behavioral questions or should I also expect a few technical questions on valuation/accounting? Also curious if there’s any chance to re-record answers, or if it’s strictly one take.

Congrats on the HireVue invite, that’s already a strong step forward!

From my experience, Morgan Stanley’s HireVue tends to be more behavioral than technical, so expect questions like “Why investment banking?” or “Why Morgan Stanley?” along with things around teamwork, leadership, and handling challenges.

Occasionally, they’ll slip in a light technical like walking through a DCF or explaining how the financial statements connect, but it’s usually not the main focus. The format is one-take only, so no chance to re-record, and you’ll usually have a short prep window followed by a couple of minutes to answer.

The real goal is to see how clearly and confidently you communicate under a bit of time pressure. I’d suggest having a few core stories in mind that you can adapt on the spot, rather than memorizing answers word-for-word. And don’t forget: energy and enthusiasm really show through on video, even more than perfect phrasing. You’ll do great! 🙌
