How would you answer this question in your Personal Fit interview?

What do you think is the most important skill to have in a team?

Hi There!
One of the most important skills to have in a team is the ability to listen actively. It’s easy to focus on getting your own point across, but real progress happens when team members feel heard and understood.
Active listening helps avoid misunderstandings, fosters trust, and allows you to build on others’ ideas more effectively. It also shows that you’re not just focused on your own contributions but are genuinely invested in the success of the group.
In a personal fit interview, I would explain that I try to be the person who brings structure to a discussion while making sure everyone’s voice is included. I’d give an example where I worked with a team that had differing opinions, and instead of pushing my own view, I helped clarify what each person was trying to say and guided us toward a solution we all supported. That kind of collaboration, especially under time pressure, has taught me that listening and adaptability are often more impactful than just speaking the loudest.

There is no ONE SINGLE right answer for the question "What do you think is the most important skill to have in a team". The interviewer is not looking for a specific skill but to understand your perspective and thought process around working in a team.
Whichever skill you name, ensure you back it up with a concrete reason and a practical example from your own experience!
Example:
"For me, Agility and communication are the twin engines of high-performing teams. Agility allows us to adapt quickly, while clear communication ensures we move in sync—turning challenges into opportunities together.
During a $50M acquisition, we discovered a major accounting discrepancy 72 hours before signing. I led a rapid response by:
Creating a war room with live financial models that updated as Legal, Tax, and Finance reconciled data
Running 3-hour sprint cycles where we'd pressure-test solutions, then immediately brief executives
Result: We resolved the issue, amended the SPA, and closed the deal on time"

Good communication is key. Without it, teamwork falls apart. In a Personal Fit interview, I’d say I always try to keep things clear and open with my team.
