What is Match Your Career?

Match Your Career is PrepLounge’s consulting matching tool. You answer a few quick questions about your priorities, we compare your answers with the information provided by consulting firms on our platform, and then show your top matches in a ranked list.

How does the matching work?

You answer questions on topics like location, firm size, industries, service areas, remote work, travel, entry-level salary expectations, benefits, and learning and development. You can also choose to weight the categories that matter most to you. Based on that, we calculate a matching score for each firm and show where you have a high, medium, or low overlap across the different topics.

Which consultancies are included in the matching?

You will see matches for all consulting firms listed on PrepLounge that have completed our matching questionnaire. This lets you compare a wide range of employers at a glance.

How long does the test take?

Usually just a few minutes. In total, you will answer 18 questions and set your category weights.

Do I have to answer every question?

No. You can skip questions. Skipped questions won’t be included in your matching score, so your results aren’t skewed.

What does the percentage in the results mean?

The percentage shows how closely your preferences match the information provided by the firm. A higher score means a stronger overlap. Important: The result is meant to guide you and does not replace a job application or interview.

Why do I see fewer details for some firms?

Some consulting firms haven’t completed every category in the questionnaire. In those cases, we can only calculate the match based on the information available, and certain detail views may be limited.

Do I need to be logged in to use the tool?

Yes. You can answer the questions without an account, but to view all results you’ll need to sign up for free or log in with your existing account.

How Does our Matching Work

Our matching follows a familiar comparison approach: you answer a set of questions, we calculate your fit, and then rank your top employers in a list.

You will answer questions across key topics that matter for your start in consulting, such as location preferences, firm size, industries and service areas, remote work, travel requirements, entry salary expectations, benefits, and learning and development. After that, you can choose which categories matter most to you, so they carry more weight in your overall score. Based on your answers, we compare your preferences with the information provided by consulting firms on PrepLounge and calculate your matching score.

In your results, you will see a sorted list of all firms, from the strongest to the lowest match. For each firm, we also show where you have a high, medium, or low overlap, so you can quickly understand what is driving the score. On top of that, you get a short company snapshot plus helpful next steps like current job openings, cases, and upcoming events. This way, you can dive deeper right away, compare firms more easily, and plan your next steps for recruiting.
