Hello Nethms,

Thank you for your question and it's hard to answer this in detail as it strongly depends on the position you are applying for. Have you received any info by HR on what to expect?

To get that info would be the first important step in your preparation. However, from our experience, you can generally expect the following formats:

  • Group exercises
  • Case studies or role-play scenarios
  • Written exercises or emails
  • Psychometric tests (e.g., numerical/verbal reasoning)
  • Interviews (competency-based or behavioral)

Start by practicing psychometric tests to sharpen your numerical and verbal reasoning skills (our drills here on PrepLounge can be a good starting point).

Familiarize yourself with case study frameworks and work on structuring your answers logically (the MECE framework and Pyramid Principle of Communication should be the basis of all). Depending on the role you are applying for, you might want to check out the Case Interview Basics we provide in our Consulting Track.

For group exercises, it's hard to prepare, but focus on collaboration—listen actively, contribute ideas, and encourage others. Here, we have recently published an article on this.

Last but not least, research recent EY projects to show your interest and knowledge.

If you want to make sure, you perform, make sure you gather feedback on your performance beforehand. Practice cases or personal fit questions with peers (here on PrepLounge or maybe friends and family) or contact a coach for a more professional support.

We wish you much success and let us know if there are any concrete materials that would help you to get ready for the big day. We are currently still building up our Finance track and appreciate any feedback or input.

Hi Prep Lounge, Thank you very much for that advice and the helpful links! I'll make sure to include all of the above and incorporate it into my assessment day. As for the assessment centre, all that I am aware of is that it will include a group assessment, and an individual assessment. All of which I will make sure to include the above tips when doing these. Thank you once again for your helpful advice and kind words!
