Mckinsey keep in touch

After reaching the final round,My application for a position with Mckinsey digital just closed and I have gotten invite for Mckinsey keep in touch for their tech.
What sort of rejection is this ? since the dashboard shows status as closed and not rejected. Also when I reapply to any other office, does this keep in touch program benefit me at that time ?

Difference between straight up rejection and keep in touch rejection ?

Hey,

I recommend asking the recruiter directly what "closed" application means.

“Keep in touch” is actually a very valuable program from McKinsey. They have lots of helpful videos about their interview process, what working there is like, and how to tackle business cases. It’s designed for alumni, people who didn't complete their recruitment, or those who were rejected. If you find out your application was rejected and you want to apply again, this program could be really useful.

Hi there,

you should probably clarify with the recruiter since the interpretation is somewhat speculative. You should in any case get an official “yea” or “nay” regarding the position you applied for.

You should also clarify if the “stay in touch” encouragement implies the typical ban period of 12-18 months or if you can consider applying for another role earlier than that.

At this point it's best to get first hand feedback I think.

All the best

Hi there,

Unfortunately, you have not been selected for the position. The positive side is that you performed well during interviews and they want to keep in touch to invite you to the recruiting process after the ban period (usually 1 year after your rejection).

Best,

Alberto

Hi,

As I understand, you haven't received a formal rejection letter. In this case it seems that this position has been filled for now, but may reopen later when there's more demand for consultants in this practice. And they probably find your profile relevant, that's why they've invited you to keep in touch.

In the meantime, don't get hung up on McKinsey and continue applying to other firms.

Good luck!

Hi,

I think they liked your application and performance during interviews but they can't make an offer for the moment.

Keep in touch with them,

Cheers

Hi!

Sorry to hear about how the application turned out.

Keep in touch means that you have a strong profile, but there were candidates who had an even stronger profile, and the firm had a limited capacity in terms of interviewing.

You can mention that you're part of the program in future applications.

In the meantime, I'd recommend you apply to other firms as well. Also, make sure that your application docs (CV & CL) are in great shape before submitting further - this might've been the reason why you got rejected from McK.

Good luck!
Cristian

Hi there,

Ultimately, you have not received the offer, but it's a “positive” rejection. Please also remember that even just getting to the final round is an accomplishment in-and-of-itself (even if it doesn't feel that way).

If you can get into the final round, you can get the offer - definitely try again next year!
