McKinsey final round decision

Final Round McKinsey & Company

I've just completed my final round with partners at McKinsey last Friday (5th Nov) but haven't got any updates until today (8th Nov).

Given that my 3 interviewers are all based in a different time zone (max 7-hour difference), should I expect longer wating time for the decision or it is actually a signal that I failed because I heard that most people get their offers the next day after the interview.

Hi,

Generally, there's not a specific time window as to when you are guaranteed to hear back from McKinsey after your final round interviews. Given your situation (where interviews are conducted across different time zones / offices) it might take a little longer for your interviewers to meet and come to a decision.

I'd give it a few more days. If you have any questions though, please feel free to reach out to your recruiter!

Hope this helps,

Hi there,

First of all, congratulations on having done the second round of interview with McKinsey! I will keep my fingers crossed.

This is indeed an interesting question which is probably relevant for quite a lot of users, so I am happy to provide my perspective on it:

  • First of all, it has merely been half a business day thus I would advise you not to worry at this moment at all.
  • Second, as you already pointed out, the difference in time zones will be another difficulty for the partners' assistants to find a free meeting slot in the partners' already stuffed calendars. Unless you have not heard anything from McKinsey after 2 weeks, I would simply wait and try to distract myself from it.

In case you want a more detailed discussion on how to best prepare your upcoming career entry, please feel free to contact me directly.

I hope this helps,

Hagen

Hi Hagen, Thanks for your answer! I've successfully secured an offer yesterday (got a phone call from one partner who interviewed me) so it seemed that due to time difference it took them 2 weeks...worth waiting though.

Hi there,

You shouldn't expect anything in over a weekend regardless! It's been like 12 business hours since you interviewed.

You need to give it at least 2 weeks before following up. They will get back to you when they're ready.

Try to worry/focus just on things you can control :)

Fingers crossed for you!

Hi,

Curious to know, which office did you apply to and what time zones did your last round happened in?

My understanding was, the final round is with the partners from the office you are applying to.

Relax, sometimes they need a day (or two) to gather their notes and make a decision.

Hey there,

Getting input from 3 Mck partners can take its time since their schedules are often double or triple booked. That is why sometimes it can take a bit longer to get the feedback and the decision.

Fingers crossed for a positive outcome!

Cheers,

Florian

Usually decisions are made the same day, however there are instances where this is not possible especially as far as virtual interviews are concerned. As difficult as patience is here, do try and hang in there!
