Dear forum:

I'd like to seek your advice on the preparation of Bain's 1st round “Hirevue written test”. (Note: this is just the first round written test, not the written case interview in the final round.) Seems that this written test is made up of 3 individual cases, with 8-9 questions in each case.

Would appreciate if there are any tips on preparation, and resources / sample practices to prepare for it.

Appreciate your advice!

Hi there,

First of all, congratulations on being invited by Bain!

This is indeed an interesting question which is probably relevant for quite a lot of users, so I am happy to provide my perspective on it:

  • First of all, I would advise you to first focus on “mastering the process”. Hirevue even has a landing page named “How to Prepare for Your HireVue Assessment”. Once you know what is coming up to you, it is easier to focus on the specific aspects of it.
  • Generally speaking, I would advise you to practice with the McKinsey PST, the BCG potential test or SHL tests since they all seem to be very similar to the Bain Hirevue test.

In case you want a more detailed discussion on how to best prepare your upcoming Bain interviews, please feel free to contact me directly.

I hope this helps,

Hagen

Hi!

You can practice with McKinsey PST and BCG Potential Test simulations. Also, have a look at SHL-like formats for quick math, exhibit interpretation, and numerical reasoning in general.

Good luck,

Anto

Hi there, hope you did well in this Bain online test. I am going to sit in this test in 2 days, same as yours -9 multiple questions. It will be greatly appreciated if you could shed some light on this test!

Hi there,

This one is honestly tough!

It's a reasoning test (more like an IQ test or GMAT/GRE than a “online case”).

There's lot of material online - ultiamtely I recommend you find a few practice tests and go through those…good luck!
