Choosing between Roland Berger and Kearney (France)

Hey guys,

I recently got offers from both Roland Berger and Kearney in Paris. I have had a better fit with Roland Berger teams so I'm leaning more towards RB for now, but I'm still lacking some infos to make sure my choice is right. Do you know how these two firms compete in terms of :

- Brand / prestige / exit opportunities (in Europe and more specifically in France)

- Work/life balance : I have heard it's pretty terrible in both firms (at least in France) due to a large amount of PE missions but maybe one is better than the other ?

Thank you so much for your help :)

Hi there,

Well, you're definitely right on the work-life balance point! You're entering a profession where that won't really exist no matter the firm.

I lean with the other coaches here as well - it's close enough regardless that you should be trusting your gut.

It's so important to work at a place where you'll feel “part” of it, mix in well, feel supported/mentored etc.

Congrats on 2 offers and good luck with the decision!

Hi there,

Congratulations on the offers!

In terms of exits you can check as follows:

  1. Look for alumni of RB and Kearney on LinkedIn
  2. Check how many went to your target exits in France
  3. Normalize for the size of RB and Kearney in France

Below you can also find some recent trends in consulting which could be useful to reflect on which company is going in the direction you are looking for:

Hi there,

Congratulations on those offers!

From my perspective, RB has an edge over Kearney in terms of prestige, especially in Europe.

Also, you should trust your gut since fit is important (goes both ways obviously and there's a reason why firms test for this).

Hope this helps a bit! Best of luck!

Roland Berger should be a bit more “strategic” and prestigious than Kearney, particularly in France.
