Ex-McKinsey Engagement Manager. Ex-Deloitte lead caser. 100+ candidates cased or coached. Strategy, M&A and operations cases.
I spent two years as an Engagement Manager at McKinsey (Denver, 2022–2024) after moving up from consultant to engagement manager at Deloitte. Before consulting I was a process engineer; since then I have run strategy and supply-chain functions as a Director at Western Union and J&J MedTech, and today I work on industrial strategy in defense tech. Chemical engineering degree, MBA, and MS in Industrial Engineering from the University of Tennessee.
I know the interview from both chairs
At Deloitte I was a lead caser for on-site and final-round interviews: about 50 case interviews, mostly graduate level, across every case type. I ran the Tennessee campus program: mock cases, candidate workshops, and training the other interviewers. At McKinsey I ran case workshops and prep for the Denver office's recruiting outreach, about 15–20 candidates, and I have coached another 40–50 people informally over the years, a high share of them now holding offers. I still do.
Who I coach best
- Candidates targeting McKinsey, BCG, Bain, Deloitte and the Big Four strategy practices
- Engineers and non-traditional backgrounds moving into consulting; that was my path
- Experienced hires who need judgment and synthesis, not more frameworks
- Strategy and M&A cases: market entry, growth, profitability, due diligence and integration. I ran M&A integration and synergy work at McKinsey and corporate strategy at Western Union, and I like these cases because they test everything at once
- Operations, supply chain, manufacturing, medtech and hard-tech cases, with the numbers an operator would actually check
