Solve game results

Hi everyone,

I completed the McKinsey Solve assessment a little more than two weeks ago and haven't heard back yet. I was wondering when it is generally considered appropriate to reach out to HR or recruiting to ask about the status of the results.

For those who have been through the process recently, how long did it take for you to receive feedback, and when did you decide to follow up?

Thanks in advance!

Two weeks of silence feels long but it's usually normal. Don't read it as bad news. Solve timelines swing a lot by office and cycle, anywhere from a few days to three or four weeks. They often batch results, so a whole cohort hears back together.

When to follow up: The two-to-three week mark is the sweet spot, so you're right at the edge. A short, polite nudge to your recruiter is fine and won't count against you.

How to do it. Keep it brief: "Hi [name], I completed the Solve assessment on [date] and wanted to check on the timeline for next steps. I'm very interested in the role and would appreciate any update."

One thing. If you have no direct recruiter contact, check your spam folder and portal first. Invites sometimes land there quietly.

You're not late and not forgotten. Send one polite follow-up, then sit tight.

Usually they come back relatively quickly.

Given that it's already been more than two weeks in your case, it's perfectly reasonable to follow up with recruiting. There is no strict rule on when you can reach out. As long as your email is polite and constructive, you're not doing anything wrong.

I would send a short note thanking them for the opportunity, confirming your continued interest, and asking whether they can share any update or expected timeline for the next steps.

Good luck!

hi!

Most candidates hear back in 1–3 weeks. The Solve is auto‑scored, but the decision depends on recruiter bandwidth and interview‑slot availability. Delays don’t signal anything about your performance.

The clean rule candidates use:

• after 10–14 days, it’s completely fine to send a short, polite follow‑up

• it won’t hurt your chances or look impatient

• recruiters expect it, especially in busy cycles

A simple message works: “I wanted to kindly check whether there are any updates on my Solve assessment and next steps.”

Hi there,

As you might expect, it varies a lot.

But typically, if you haven't heard back within a month, then it's worth sending a polite reminder / follow-up. For now though, I would just focus on developing other applications.

Best,
Cristian
