Should I send follow-up to Mck recruiter after screening 10 days ago?

I completed Solve August 6th, had the recruiter phone call August 15th. This went well, her words were "next step is for us to review your profile again, I've seen that you have completed Solve. Either it will be a rejection email or hopefully a phone call in a week or so." She also mentioned for a 2nd time the open point on my profile about whether I had a Bachelors or not [my transcripts were for Masters, but this 4-yr course included my Bachelors] - which I assumed was closed in that call by my explanation.

It has been nearly 2 weeks, should I follow up?

Hi there,

Yes, it’s reasonable to follow up now. Two weeks is long enough that you can politely check in without seeming pushy. Keep it short and professional:

  • Thank the recruiter again for the previous call.
  • Briefly reiterate your clarification about the bachelor’s degree so it’s crystal clear.
  • Express enthusiasm for the role and politely ask if there are any updates on next steps.

This way you show interest and proactivity, while also removing any lingering ambiguity about your profile.

Happy to help you prep when you move to the next stages – feel free to reach out.

Best,

Evelina

Hey there :)

Yes, in this case it makes sense to send a polite follow-up. Two weeks is already longer than the timeline your recruiter mentioned, and since there was a small open question around your degree, it’s a good chance to clarify again and show proactive interest. Just keep it short and professional, asking if there are any updates and whether they need any further documentation from you.

best, Alessa :)

Hi there,

You are not hurting your chances by sending a polite follow-up now. In fact, it can help clarify the open point about your degree and ensure that your file moves forward.

Should you follow up?
Yes, but do it politely and without sounding impatient. Since the recruiter herself said you would likely hear back in about a week, it is perfectly reasonable to check in after two weeks. A short, professional email works best. For example:

"Dear XXX, I hope you are doing well. I wanted to kindly follow up regarding my application for the Business Analyst role. We last spoke on August 15th, and I just wanted to check whether there have been any updates on the next steps. Please let me know if there is any additional information I can provide."

Why this works

  • It shows continued interest without pressure.
  • It gives the recruiter a reason to reopen your file if something got stuck in the system.
  • It reinforces professionalism, which is always noted.

Hi there,

It definitely doesn't hurt your application to politely follow up. 2 weeks is an appropriate time for you to send an email to ask for news.
