Recruitment process for a Junior Business Analyst at McKinsey Casablanca (full-time position)

Hello everyone,
I’ll soon be starting the recruitment process at McKinsey Casablanca for a Junior Business Analyst (full-time)position.

I was wondering if anyone could share insights on the structure of the process, in particular:

  • How many interview rounds are there?
  • How many case interviews should I expect overall?

Thanks a lot in advance for your help!

Hello Mehdi,

For McKinsey Casablanca, the process is broadly aligned with McKinsey globally:

  • 2 interview rounds in total
  • Round 1: typically 2 interviews, each with a case + Personal Experience Interview (PEI)
  • Round 2 (final): typically 2–3 interviews, again case + PEI, led by more senior interviewers (EMs / Partners)

So overall, expect 4–5 case interviews across the process.

What to pay special attention to:

  • Structured problem-solving and clear, concise communication
  • Strong PEI stories (leadership, drive, resilience)
  • Professional maturity and coachability — McKinsey weighs attitude and learning mindset heavily, not just raw intellect

As a coach, I’m here to help you, we can structure your entire consulting prep (cases, PEI, fit, feedback loops) and maximize your chances of success throughout the process.

Let me give you a general sense of what to expect, though I would always recommend confirming with your recruiter since offices can have slight variations.

McKinsey's process for Junior Business Analyst roles typically follows a similar structure globally. You will usually have two rounds of interviews. The first round has two interviews back to back, and the final round also has two interviews. So four interviews total, spread across two rounds.

Each interview usually has two parts. A case interview and a PEI, which is McKinsey's Personal Experience Interview. The case tests how you break down and solve a business problem. The PEI tests things like leadership, personal impact, and how you handle tough situations. Both matter equally.

So in total, expect around four case interviews and four PEI conversations across the process.

A few things to keep in mind for Casablanca specifically

The interviews may be conducted in French, English, or a mix depending on the interviewer. Be ready for both. If you are stronger in one language, that is usually fine, but don't be surprised if they switch mid-interview.

McKinsey also uses an online assessment before the interviews. Make sure you prepare for that too. It is called the McKinsey Solve assessment. It tests problem solving through game-based scenarios.

For prep, focus equally on cases and PEI. A lot of candidates over-prepare for cases and show up with weak PEI stories. Have three or four strong examples ready that show leadership, impact, and handling challenges.

Feel free to reach out if you want help thinking through your prep or practicing cases.

Hi Mehdi,

For a Junior Business Analyst role at McKinsey Casablanca, the process is broadly in line with other McKinsey offices, with some local flexibility.

Typically, you can expect:

  • Two interview rounds in total
  • Round 1: usually 2 interviews
  • Final round: usually 2 interviews
  • Each interview includes one case and one PEI (fit) discussion

So overall, expect around four case interviews across the full process.

The format is interviewer-led cases, and the bar is consistent with other McKinsey offices. Timelines can vary slightly depending on hiring needs, but the structure itself is fairly standard.

Happy to help you prep if useful.

Best,
Evelina

Hi Mehdi,

I've had a successful candidate at McK Casablanca in the past. Happy to help.

Typically you have 2 rounds of 2 interviews each. But sometimes the format can change so make sure you ask the recruiter how the process will look like specifically for you.

Also reach out directly to me if you have any follow-up questions or you want to understand how I approached the process with the other candidate I was mentioning.

Best,
Cristian

Hi there,

For Junior Business Analyst roles at McKinsey you can usually expect two main rounds. The first round often has two interviews with Engagement Managers, each combining a case and a short fit/PEI portio. The final round typically has two to three partner-level interviews, again with both case and deeper fit.

So in total most candidates go through around four to five case interviews overall, sometimes plus an online assessment depending on the office. Focus on clear structuring, solid math, and communicating your thinking calmly, that is what really makes the difference.
