QuantumBlack Data Scientist Interviews

Hello!

I’m currently interviewing for a Data Scientist role at QuantumBlack (McKinsey), and I’d love to hear from anyone who has been through their interview process.
In particular, I’m curious about the business cases — are they more analytically/technically focused compared to traditional consulting interviews?

Also, if anyone is open to practicing case or technical interviews together, I’d be very interested in setting up some mock sessions.

Thanks in advance for any insights or for connecting to practice together!"

Pablo,

Congrats on approaching the interviews!

Typically there's a technical component to the interview, but the process does differ specifically from role to role and office to office.

I would strongly recommend that you reach out to the recruiter and ask to clarify the interview process and structure. You should ask your question directly. They want you to be well prepared, so there's nothing to gain from second guessing.

Best,
Cristian

Hey Pablo :)

QuantumBlack cases tend to be more analytics- and data-focused than traditional consulting cases. Expect questions that test your problem-solving with data, statistics, and sometimes coding, in addition to standard business sense. It’s still important to structure your answers clearly and communicate insights effectively. Doing mock sessions is a great idea, practicing with someone who can give feedback on both technical and business aspects will help a lot.

You can reach out if you want tips on prep or finding practice partners!

best, Alessa :)
