Quantumblack interview in Greater China

I finished my last round of interview with the partner almost 2 weeks ago and haven't heard anything back... I've followed up with the recruiters, also didn't hear back (They have been pretty responsive during the interview process). My dashboard says application in progress still...

Is this a silent rejection or is there still hope? :(

Hi there,

This is indeed unusual. I have never heard of McKinsey or QB doing "silent-rejection" ever. So, I do believe it is much more probable that something came up for one or more of the top decision makers in your process. For example, maybe the lead partner had a family emergency. This could have happened, and would delay your final decision making meeting.

I do think this (or something similar) is most likely, but I also am surprised that none of the recruiters have given you clear answers yet. I would recommend pushing on them a bit more for some clue as to what the hold up is (politely).

Hope this helps!

Thanks everyone for your comments! Following up on this - received HR email on 10/13 saying they are consolidating feedback; received offer call on 10/14 (final round interview was done on 9/28).
I totally forgot there is a long national holiday in China at the beginning of October... so that could be the main reason!

No, it's not a silent rejection. They don't do that. Or if some people say it happens, it must have been an error, rather than a purposeful action. They're a professional firm, and they go through a formal recruiting process where rejections as well as offers are part of the daily business. They are not embarrassed to say no.

Lots of things might've come in between. You can only wait at this point. I know it's frustrating because I also had to wait 10 days after my last McK interview and it felt horrible. Try to keep yourself busy and follow-up again with the recruiter in a week or so.

Hope you hear from them soon!

Best,
Cristian

Hi,

not a silent rejection - that would be unprofessional and they are anything but unprofessional.

GIve it some more time and your status surely will change.

Good luck!
