psychometric test score

Hi,

Does anyone know how much impact the psychometric test ( motivation, traits, verbal - like GMAT, math, logic test) have on getting an offer with MBB and tier-one consulting firms? Consulting firms request such tests every now and then.

Thanks.

Hey there,

Some offices and some firms use psychometric tests (e.g. Bain). Their role in the recruiting process is similar to the BCG Online Case or the McKinsey Imbellus.

They can both be a screening device to move on to the interviews or used in combination with the first-round interviews.

Cheers,

Florian

Hello,

Florian said it best - I think these tests are most often used either for screening, or to add to your resume and interview performance for an initial assessment.

Hi there,

Exactly as Florian said, these are screening methods not unlike an HR call or the PST, etc.

A good rule of thumb is to assume that any and all interactions while recruiting for a company are evaluative - you need to aim for your best across the board!

As stated by other coaches, psychometric test scores are at best one additional filtering tool. However, in my experience they never replace what actually matters - which is the school you go to, your GPA, extra curriculars and past work experience.
