Is it a travel heavy office and what are some of the local industries located in Chicago?
Is Chicago seen as a prestigious office and is it competitive to get in ?

I can answer for BCG, which will hopefully be similar to McK.
Chicago is one of the best practices offices in the global system, due to secondment opportunities, relatively better work-life balance and support for MBA sponsorships etc. I am aware that the office has a significant presence in the consumer and financial services space, and is often associated with intense travel (e.g., a good friend of mine worked there for 2 years, and always traveled Monday-Thursday).
