Hi ,
I got an email for a well known boutique in London asking for availability for first round interview , visa status and preference of working mode. My answers complemented their requirements.
However, the HR manager has not replied to my email since. I have followed up weekly for the last 3 weeks. Is it safe to assume they might have sent the email by mistake and may have filed the role already ?
I applied at the Associate level as an FYI (1 year of exp)
Any help on how to proceed with this would be helpful.
Thanks
No reply from firm after asking dates for first round interview
Hi,
It does sound like that may be the case, but ultimately its really hard to tell. Especially at boutique firms, sometimes the process can really slip as they don't have as many resources and the structures are not in place versus bigger firms.
I would suggest to
- wait ~2 more weeks and follow up 1 more time
- apply to other firms in the mean time

All the best!
Three weeks of silence and three follow-ups is a strong signal the role isn't moving forward, at least not on your timeline.
Most likely the role got paused, filled internally, or HR is overloaded. It's almost certainly not a mistake email, boutiques don't reach out by accident.
Send one final clear email. Different tone. Something like "I've followed up a few times, if the role is on hold or filled, a quick note would help me plan. If still active, I remain interested." Gives them an easy out, often gets a response.
If still nothing in a week, move on emotionally and apply elsewhere aggressively.
Good luck.
I'm very sorry to hear about this. This must be really frustrating.
Many things could've happened, but putting that aside, it sounds like you've already done the best that you could with following up.
It would make sense to focus on other opportunities now.
Best,
Cristian
Silence after giving your availability doesn’t automatically mean the role is gone. Boutique firms in London are notoriously slow and disorganized with scheduling, and HR often juggles multiple pipelines at once. If they sent you an availability request, it usually means you passed screening. Three weeks of no reply is frustrating but still common. Keep one last polite follow‑up, then mentally move on and continue applying elsewhere. If they want to interview you, they’ll come back, but don’t wait around for them.
