Hi. I recently saw a role that I really liked and proceeded to apply for it. Then I saved my application as a draft and didn't apply (hit the submit button) and it still sits in my dashboard as a draft. I asked a friend to refer me for the role (consultant) and he said he will/ Will this affect his bonus or my application negatively in any way? He said he submitted it but I still haven't received any mail.
Need some information about how a Mckinsey referral works?

Hey there,
Depends on the office. There is a formal route and an informal one (via Email to the recruiter).
After the referral has been received HR should invite you to proceed with your application. Since it's August, many people are off work and it could take a bit longer - keep that in mind.
The referral will have a positive impact on your application and likely no impact on his bonus (most offices don't offer a referral bonus).
Fingers crossed!
Cheers,
Florian

Hello,
Referral processes sometimes take a little while depending on where they are in the recruiting cycle, but it is definitely worth following up with your friend / getting them to follow up with HR if it's been 3-5 weeks and you haven't heard anything. You would only be hearing from them if they want to proceed, but there is no harm in checking where the referral is at.

Hi there,
Not sure why this would affect his bonus or your application negatively?
You should have received an email and direct link to apply. Did you check your spam folder? I would ask him to put you in touch directly with HR.
In terms of bonus, depending on your role and office, he will get a referral bonus after you start.

The incentive for referral really varies but most often it is usually just a consultant passing on your CV to the recruiting team for consideration. You will only hear back from them if they want to proceed.
Good luck!

Hi there, might I recommend to ask your friend to follow-up with HR/recruiter for the respective office where you had him apply to. That's the best way to find out.
