McKinsey Casablanca – January/February intake & application timeline?

Hi everyone,

I graduated in June 2026 and I’m now considering applying for the Business Analyst role at McKinsey Casablanca. I did not apply during the final year of my Master’s, so I’m trying to understand the best timing now.

I know McKinsey Morocco generally recommends applying 4–6 months before your desired start date. From the profiles I’ve seen, however, many fresh graduates seem to join the Casablanca office around September, shortly after graduation.

I’m currently waiting on a few other opportunities that should become clearer by the end of September, so ideally I would prefer to make my final decision around then rather than applying immediately.

My questions are:

1. Does McKinsey Casablanca regularly have Business Analyst hires/cohorts starting in January or February, or is September the main intake for fresh graduates?

2. If January/February starts do exist, would applying around late September or even early October still be realistic for a January/February 2027 start, or would that already be considered too late?

Any insight into the typical Casablanca timeline from application → Solve → interviews → offer → start date would also be extremely helpful.

Would especially appreciate hearing from anyone familiar with recent McKinsey Casablanca recruiting cycles. Thanks!

Hi,

I would separate the application timing from the decision timing. You don't need to have decided that McKinsey is your preferred option before applying.

I had a recent coachee from Morocco who was applying to the three MBBs and I can tell you that McKinsey Morocco accepts applications throughout the year.

So if you specifically want to start in January/February 2027, late September is probably a good time for your application. If McKinsey is an option you genuinely want to preserve, I would apply earlier and make the final decision later, once you know the outcome of your other opportunities.

Best,
Franco

Thanks a lot, Franco! I realize I didn’t make this very clear in my original post: the other opportunities I’m waiting on are actually not consulting/job opportunities, but a few startup accelerator programs related to a venture I’m working on.

That’s why I was thinking of waiting until I have more clarity on that path before deciding whether I really want to pursue consulting next year.

But your point about separating the application timing from the final decision definitely makes sense. At the same time, since McKinsey Morocco recruits year-round, I’m thinking the best balance for me might be to apply around late September/October, once I have that clarity and, importantly, once I feel properly prepared for Solve and the interviews.

Thanks again, really helpful perspective!

Hi there,

I would be happy to share my thoughts on your questions:

  • First of all, I would strongly advise you to reach out to the recruiting department of the Casablanca office immediately, since unfortunately, no one else can tell you for certain how the intakes in this specific office are structured. Based on my own experience with coachees in the Morocco, though, hiring happens on a rolling basis.
  • Moreover, the typical timeline from application to offer takes around 2 to 3 months, including application files screening, the McKinsey Solve pre-interview assessment and two interview rounds. So an application in late September or early October could still be realistic for a January/February 2027 start - but I don't understand why you want to wait until last minute, considering that handing in an application does not require a lot of time.
  • Lastly, I would advise you to use the time until then to already prepare for the McKinsey Solve pre-interview assessment, the case interviews and PEIs. This way, you can apply interview as soon as the opportunity arises.

If you would like a more detailed discussion on how to best prepare your application files, for your upcoming McKinsey Solve pre-interview assessment and/or interviews, please don't hesitate to contact me directly.

Best,

Hagen

Thank you, Hagen, this is very helpful!

I’ve actually already reached out to the Casablanca recruiting team to ask specifically about the intake and timeline, so I’m waiting to hear back from them.

Regarding why I’m considering waiting, it’s less about the time needed to submit the application itself and more about wanting to apply once I’m sure I want to pursue consulting next year. I’m currently waiting on a few startup-related opportunities that should become clearer by the end of September.

The other big reason is preparation. I definitely don’t want to apply before I’m ready for Solve and, ideally, already well underway with case and PEI preparation. I’m expecting to dedicate at least a couple of focused weeks to Solve preparation alone.

So your last point is exactly what I’m thinking: use the coming weeks to prepare properly, then apply once I’m both ready and clear on the direction I want to take.

Thanks again!

Hi there,

You need to network with your target company + office! The answer here will depends on the specific company, office, role, and recruiting channel!

Check with the recruiting office for timelines.

My advice is to apply 1) when you are 80 to 90% ready and 2) when you have a referral. You need to be ready to interview when you apply.

There is really no harm in starting early and progressing steadily!

Make sure to network extensively beforehand to maximize your odds of success!

Thanks Ian! This actually resonates a lot with what I had in mind.

The “80–90% ready before applying” point is probably the biggest takeaway for me. Since the Casablanca role seems to recruit on a rolling basis (at least according to Hagen and Franco above), I don’t see much value in clicking apply before I’m genuinely ready for what comes next.

I’d rather spend the next few weeks preparing properly for Solve, networking within the office, and already getting comfortable with cases and PEI before submitting. Especially with assessments and interviews where a rejection can mean having to wait quite a while before trying again, I’d much rather give myself the best possible shot the first time.

So I think my approach will be: prepare first, network in parallel, and apply once I feel genuinely ready rather than simply applying as early as possible.

Really appreciate the advice!

Hello !

I was based in Mckinsey Morocco for 1.5 years before moving to the Middle East.

1. McK Casa does not have business analysts, you should apply as a junior associate. BA is only for people who come from non target schools and join after doing the African Young Leader program. There is indeed typically a large intake in jan/feb

2. You should apply now for the jan intake indeed.

Happy to talk more Casa specifics !

Regards,

Valerian

Thanks so much, Valerian — this is really insightful. I actually wasn’t aware of the distinction between BA and Junior Associate in Casablanca.

I’d definitely be interested in learning more about the Casa-specific process. My only hesitation about applying immediately is that I’m not quite where I want to be yet in terms of Solve/case preparation. Since recruiting seems to happen on a rolling basis throughout the year, I’m wondering whether it might make more sense to prepare properly first and then apply.

One thing I’d really like to clarify, though: for someone with a Master’s degree from a target school but less than six months of formal consulting experience through an internship, would Junior Associate still be the right position to apply for, or would it be better to work in a full-time role for some time and apply next year instead?

Thanks again — I really appreciate the insight!
