MBB "People" Divisions

Hi everyone,

I'm a multi-lingual psychology graduate from (UCL/LSE) who will start entry-level consultancy at one of (OW/ATK/RB/OC&C/LEK) spending time in its London and Dubai offices.

 

I'm quite fascinated by the following divisions at MBB:

McKinsey - Organization, Accelerate

BCG - Organization, Change Management, People Strategy

Bain- Organization, Academy, Agile, Diversity

 

Some of the questions I have in relation to these:

  • Is the recruitment for these divisions from the generalist analyst/consultant pool?
  • Does their work lack in the “strategic” component that I've found myself enjoying on the more commercial divisions?
  • Any comments on the progression within the roles
  • Any other insight experts may have on these divisions

 

I have researched the limited information available online  and spoken to a couple of people but wanted to get some credible reviews on this forum before continuing with my independent research.

Is the recruitment for these divisions from the generalist analyst/consultant pool?

Yes. (At levels below leadership of course)

Does their work lack in the “strategic” component that I've found myself enjoying on the more commercial divisions?

Not at all. I worked on a project where we had to break down a massive organization's culture and drive culture change within. This required high-level strategic thinking across a few key themes/levers that we could control.

Any comments on the progression within the roles

Same pathway as all other specializations! This is uniform across countries/industries/functions etc. at MBB

Any other insight experts may have on these divisions

Broad question! What I will say is a lot of these projects do tend to have a re-org component. E.g. where you need to change the structure of the organization, re-allocate people etc.
