Which is more challenging, the BCG Online Casey Interview or a cognitive test consisting of 80 questions to be completed in 30 minutes? Additionally, what might be the reason for the switch from option 1 to option 2 very last minute prior to my first-round interview, and does this change signify anything regarding their view on my application?
Last-minute interview format switch (BCG)

Happy to provide a perspective. I'll take your questions one by one.
Which is more challenging, the BCG Online Casey Interview or a cognitive test consisting of 80 questions to be completed in 30 minutes?
It depends more on the candidate and less so on the test.
The important thing to bear in mind is that everybody is assessed on the same tests, so in the end it doesn't matter which one is harder if everybody receives the same when interviewing for the same role.
Additionally, what might be the reason for the switch from option 1 to option 2 very last minute prior to my first-round interview, and does this change signify anything regarding their view on my application?
I wouldn't read into it.
Most likely, they are trying to change the format of the test and are trialling different versions. It doesn't reflect on you at all, nor anything about your application.
Best,
Cristian

Hi there,
Q1: Which is more challenging, the BCG Online Casey Interview or a cognitive test consisting of 80 questions to be completed in 30 minutes?
This totally depends on the person and his/her preparation.
Q2: Additionally, what might be the reason for the switch from option 1 to option 2 very last minute prior to my first-round interview, and does this change signify anything regarding their view on my application?
Does it matter? You cannot change it and you need to quickly adapt to the new format so focus only on your preparation.
Best,
Alberto

Check out my latest case based on a real MBB interview: Sierra Springs

This depends on you.
I know some people that fine the Casey harder and others that find the cognitive test harder.
There is no reason for the switch. It has nothing at all to do with you…just adjust…as you'll have to do in the interview, on the job, etc.

Hi there,
I would say the 80-question test is harder than the Casey since it is more detached from the typical case interview and comes with considerably tighter time allocation per question (adding more stress on top)
I have never heard that they made such a change on short notice. I would clarify with the relevant office why that is the case!
All the best,
Florian
