Interviews rounds scoring protocol

Hello all,

I’ve been interviewing with a Tier 1 firm in the Middle East. I’ve completed one first-round interview and have one more remaining for round 1. If I pass, there may 1–2 additional interviews in the final round.

In my first interview, I did very well on the case itself, including the approach and analysis, except for my final recommendation, which was poor from a business-judgment perspective. What are my chances of passing? How are cases typically scored at Tier 1 firms?

I’m interviewing for an entry-level position. The case was a public-sector industry case where the government wanted to launch initiatives and be profitable by any amount. Over 10 years, the project would result in a total loss of $ 100 K over 10 years but generate hundreds of millions in revenue and other economic impact. However, the prompt only provided financial factors. After I gave my recommendation, the interviewer told me that the client had announced two weeks later that they would not proceed with the initiatives. What do u think? (I ruined that as well I don't know why but that's what happened)

I’m not sure how much this mistake will hurt my chances or what I should do going forward. Any advice or insight would be appreciated.

Hi,

Cases are assessed holistically across several dimensions: structuring, quantitative analysis, business judgment, communication, synthesis, and overall interaction. The recommendation is important, but one weak conclusion does not automatically mean rejection, especially if the rest of the case was strong.

To pass the process, you need to pass each individual interview. It is better to perform consistently across the board than to be a superstar in one interview and mediocre in another.

Hope this helps,
FRanco

PS For future recommendations, return explicitly to the client’s objective, answer it directly, support your answer with the decisive evidence, and then mention risks and next steps
