Interviewing at Multiple MBB Offices

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone has encountered a situation where an applicant got interviewed for two different positions (e.g. generalist and non-generalist) at two different offices in two completely different regions (e.g. London and Riyadh) simultaneously. Is that even possible? What about getting interviewed for two different positions within the same office simultaneously?

Hello!

Usually, it shouldn´t be the case within the same firm.

The interviewing and recrutiing process is supposed to be global: hence, if you are being interviewed in one position and/or location, it should be the only one.

Could it be that there has been a bug, and this has been scheduled? Sure. I would for sure don´t say a word and interview for both, hoping for the best.

Hope it helps!

Cheers,

Clara

I definitely know cases of two different roles in different offices but not different roles in the same office.  I do know a few cases where someone who has been rejected for one role is still interviewed for a different role in the same office a few weeks later (e.g., generalist vs. specialist role).

Hey there,

MBB usually keeps one global profile for applicants, hence, it should not be possible. I have heard of cases where there were multiple profiles in the database which only led to confusion later on.

You should always be transparent in during the recruiting process about these things.

Fingers crossed!

Cheers,

Florian

Hi there,

Technically, this shouldn’t be possible. And if it were, it certainly wouldn’t be advisable.

There’s too much potential for creating confusion among the recruiting team and in your own ability to tell your story.

Hope this helps a bit! Best of luck!

That would not work at a place like McKinsey. Any HR person worldwide can see the roles you applied for and in which offices. If you apply for different roles in different offices it sends mixed signals as to what you are after. I would not recommend this approach at all.

Hi there,

I assume you're saying for the same company, correct? This theoretically is not possible and should not happen, though I would not surprised if it has happened before due to confusion of candidacy or something like that. But, again, it should not happen and is not to be expected!

Hi there,

It is possible to get invitations from two different offices, but that’s normally due to a bug in the recruiting system – in theory you should be in the process for one specific position and office at a particular time.

Best,

Francesco
