<LEK Consulting> Interview result

Question

Hi there,

I did two rounds interview with L.E.K consulting on 23rd July 2021. I have not heard from them since then.

I sent an email on Tuesday August 10th to express that I am glad for the interview opportunity and I would like to know the feedback or result. However, they have not yet replied.

Is it usual that consulting firm does not inform the interview result? What should I do in this situation? How long does it take them to make a decision and inform the candidate?

P/S: I am applying with the Singaporean office.

So, the recruiter sent an email back to me on 13 Aug and told me that they are still reviewing the candidates who went through the interview round. They will inform me if I am shortlisted for the role.

Until now, they have not yet sent me any update. Should I send an email to ask them again? Or I should give up my hope and understand that I failed because no one contacted me.

Hi there,

I'm sorry to hear they've taken so long - that's not great form!

Honestly, things are a bit chaotic right now, so companies are taking a while to get back to people.

That said, 3 weeks is too long! I would wait until early next week (Friday's are when they tend to be able to sort out things), and if you haven't heard back by Tuesday give them a call.

Give it a few more days and if nothing comes back, then call them. Avoid sending any more emails.

Its a shame companies behave this way but there could be plenty of reasons behind the scenes and you don't have visibility of this e.g. managers away on holidays, budget approval stuck etc.

Hi there,

MBB normally always notify candidates independently on the outcome. Other companies may not do so or may take quite some time to do so.

Given it is almost 3 weeks, I would call the office directly. There is no penalty if you do so and at least they should provide a feedback earlier or explain the reason for the delay.

Writing and calling will not impact negatively - do keep following up.

However, I can say that in some cases - results could take longer than 2-3 weeks as well - some consults do their selection in batches and might be waiting for a batch of interviews to get done before taking a decision on the candidates.

I am sorry to hear you are having this experience! I agree with the other experts here - there could be plenty of things going on, and 3 weeks is quite a bit of time, so I think you are justified in reaching out by phone.
