Hello! Congrats of being invited for the interview

Even if the recruiter says “no need to prepare,” you absolutely should, especially for a Senior role, where fit and credibility matter a lot (also some past experiences is key).

Key things to focus on in the HR / fit interview:

  • Demonstrate strong IT credibility: clearly articulate your experience with enterprise systems, IT transformations, architecture, or large-scale implementations. Platinion is very delivery-oriented
  • Show seniority: emphasize ownership, decision-making, stakeholder management, and moments where you influenced technical or business direction
  • Bridge IT and business: Platinion values consultants who translate technology into business impact, not pure technologists (this was my case at Accenture to prove that I can understand complex IT topics and combine with business impact)
  • Structured storytelling: prepare 4–5 solid stories (leadership, conflict, failure, influencing without authority, ambiguity)
  • “Why BCG Platinion?”: highlight the mix of deep IT focus + top-tier strategy exposure, and why that’s better than pure system integrators or generalist consulting for you

What to avoid:

  • Sounding too hands-on / too technical without impact
  • Sounding too generic (this is not classic BCG generalist consulting)

Bottom line: this interview tests whether you are a credible senior IT consultant clients would trust, not whether you can code

As a coach, I’m here to help you, we can refine your fit stories, sharpen your seniority signals, and tailor your narrative precisely to BCG Platinion’s IT-focused model to maximize your chances of success!

Hi there,

Even if the recruiter says “no need to prepare,” it’s still worth being intentional — HR fit interviews at BCG Platinion are very much about how you think, work, and fit, not trick questions.

Here’s what typically matters for a Senior IT Consultant – Enterprise Solutions role:

What they focus on

  • Motivation for Platinion specifically (not just BCG): technology-led transformation, close client work, end-to-end delivery
  • How you operate on projects: working with ambiguity, balancing tech and business needs, collaborating with non-technical stakeholders
  • Ownership and leadership: taking responsibility, driving solutions, influencing without authority
  • Communication style: clear, structured, and pragmatic

What to have ready

  • A clear “why Platinion / why now” story
  • 2–3 solid examples covering:
    • Leading or owning a complex tech initiative
    • Handling pushback or misalignment with stakeholders
    • Making trade-offs between ideal tech solutions and real-world constraints
  • One example showing learning or growth from feedback or failure

Tone to aim for

  • Conversational, not scripted
  • Reflective and honest rather than polished
  • Business-minded, not overly technical

They’re not trying to catch you out — they’re asking “Would I trust this person with clients and teams?” If you answer calmly, show judgment, and explain your thinking clearly, you’re doing it right.

If you want, I can help you quickly sanity-check your stories or your “why Platinion” before the interview.

Best,

Evelina

That line—"no need to prepare"—is the most common piece of advice recruiters give, and it’s usually designed to make sure you come across as relaxed and authentic. But for a senior role at Platinion, you absolutely need to be intentional about your story.

Here is the reality of what the HR fit interview is screening for: your ability to structure communication, and your genuine motivation for the specific intersection of technology and management consulting that Platinion operates in. They know you have the technical skills from your resume; now they are checking if you can communicate them simply, clearly, and client-ready.

For a Senior Consultant focused on Enterprise Solutions, you should have 3–4 detailed, structured behavioral stories ready to go. Unlike junior roles, they aren't looking just for the action you took (the 'A' in STAR), but the clear business impact and the stakeholder management required. Think about scenarios where you had to balance ideal technology against real-world client constraints, or when you had to influence non-technical executives on a large transformation initiative.

The biggest filter will be the "Why Platinion" question. Platinion is distinct from classic BCG strategy consulting; they are assessing if you truly want to be hands-on in technology-led transformation and implementation. Your narrative needs to show a clear transition point and passion for moving past just strategy definition into the end-to-end delivery space. If you nail the structural communication and show specific, genuine motivation for their unique business model, you will pass the screen.

All the best with the interview!

When a recruiter says "no need to prepare," don't take that literally. Every conversation in a recruiting process is an evaluation, whether they call it that or not.

What they're really assessing:

  • Can we put this person in front of a client?
  • Do they communicate well?
  • Do they work well with teams?
  • Do they actually want this specific role?

What matters:

  • This is not about memorized or scripted answers. It is about being self aware, clear, and showing you understand what Platinion actually does.
  • Platinion is not core BCG. They do IT strategy, digital transformation, enterprise solutions. Show this is a deliberate choice, not a fallback.

How to prepare:

  • Have 2-3 tight stories ready: where you led something, handled a tough stakeholder, or delivered a result in a complex setting. Two minutes max each.
  • Make sure at least one story connects to enterprise solutions since that is the role.
  • Prepare a strong "why BCG Platinion" answer. Not generic prestige talk. A real answer about why this arm of BCG, why enterprise solutions, why now. Connect your IT background to where Platinion is headed.

Don't underestimate:

  • The energy you bring matters. Be warm, be engaged.
  • Ask good questions back. The questions you ask often say more about you than your answers do.

Don't overthink it, but don't walk in cold. A couple of hours of thoughtful prep puts you ahead of most candidates who took the recruiter's advice literally.

Feel free to reach out if you want to pressure test your stories or your "why Platinion" answer before you go in.

Congrats!

This might not be an evaluative interview, but one to validate relevance and fit with the role.

The recruiter will want to understand more about what you actually did in the roles you've had previously to check if they are relevant to the role they're recruiting you for.

They'll also want to understand whether you have any salary expectations and what your mid to long-term plan is.

Do prepare answers to those. And make sure you have a sharp and clear value proposition. If you need help with refining these and getting them right, do reach out, and I'm happy to explain how I work through these with candidates interviewing with BCG.

Lastly, make sure you think before the discussion whether you have any questions for them (e.g., about how the application process will work specifically for your role)

Best,

Cristian

hey there :)

If the recruiter said no prep is needed, keep it natural but structured. Have a short story about your background ready, why you enjoy consulting, and why BCG Platinion specifically. Focus on impact you’ve delivered in IT/enterprise projects and what excites you about solving client problems. Keep it conversational, show curiosity, and let your personality come through.

best,
Alessa :)
