Hi there,

Well done on reaching the 3rd round! Regarding your questions:

Q: Currently preparing for the 3rd Round @ Mckinsey! Any tips? How difficult is to get an offer? Where to focus on?

The final round (I guess the 3rd round is the final one for you) usually has the same structure as the first (fit + case + your questions); however, in a final round, partners may:

  1. Spend more time on fit/PEI and your alignment with the company.
  2. Ask questions related to the areas of improvement you received feedback on after the first round.
  3. Not use a "standard" case, although in most offices, McKinsey cases remain standard in finals as well.

To prepare and maximize the chance of an offer, you can work on the following:

  1. Review your PEI stories. Be sure to have at least one backup for each dimension.
  2. Work on the areas you received feedback on, if any (e.g., structure, math, PEI).
  3. Continue with your case prep. If you are tracking your performance, do drills for the areas where you are struggling the most or review cases where you made mistakes, rather than doing random cases.

Good luck!

Francesco

Hey there :)

Congrats on making it this far, that’s already a great sign. At McKinsey, the 3rd round is less about technical case performance and more about senior partners testing your communication, presence, and “fit” for the firm. The cases can feel a bit less structured, sometimes more conversational, but the bar is still high.

Focus on showing clarity of thought, strong top-down communication, and genuine personal impact stories. Be ready to discuss your motivations and how you handle challenges. The offer rate is higher at this stage than earlier rounds, but rejection still happens if they feel there are doubts about leadership potential or cultural fit.

best,
Alessa :)

Getting an offer is not difficult. If you’ve made it to 3rd round, you’re only 2 hours away from your offer. That is the mindset I tell all the candidates I case with.

Efforts should be placed on how excellent you want your case experience to be a, the offer is a byproduct 👌

At this point... you know how to solve problems, just keep practicing.

I would focus instead on the PEI, as partners are more strict about FIT. Happy to support you, as I am a senior coach quite experienced with FIT interview.
