I had a final round interview. The partner only really cased me for 15 minutes… does this mean they have already filled their quota and were just humoring me? For example, the math section had 4 parts. I set up the structure and did the first part correctly. After this he would just ask me how i would approach the problem and for every other part he would just give me the answer to the math and move onto the next question. I don't feel like i was going too slow either….but i did always repeat and double check the numbers he gave me so maybe i was taking too long?
Final Round interview

Hi there,
It means nothing.
It means they did what they wanted to do (as always).
Never expect anything going into these interviews! Anything can happen!
He might have not pushed you because he was impressed and thought you did well, not needing to test more. Or, he had already decided against hiring you and just wanted to move on.
We don't know!
That said, personally, it sounds more promising to me than not promising….it's most likely you did the 1st math part well, they were happy, and didn't need to further test.
Time will tell…fingers crossed for you!

Hi there!
No, this is totally normal.
Often times Partners might do the maths part just to tick the box. They feel like you've already been vetted by their more junior colleagues and want to focus on other things instead.
Also, interviwers are more interested in HOW you approach the maths part, not how you compute it. So they will give you the results of the calculations directly as you're about to do them.
Hope you hear back from the interview soon. It sounds like it went well!!
Best,
Cristian

Hi,
It is difficult to read into the mind of the interviewer, and I suggest that you do not try and do so. Sometimes Partners have the mindset that “the first round interviewers should have tested your math so that is something I'm not going to test”.
No point stressing yourself out, best to wait for the official result :)

Hello,
If they had already filled the quota, they would have just cancelled the interview. Partners are busy people and are not going to waste their time unnecessarily. So no, it doesn't mean they were just humoring you at all!
It really doesn't mean much at all - the partner could have been short on time, or that was just his casing style, or he felt like he'd seen enough of your mathematical analysis to be able to evaluate it. My advice would be not to read too much into this, it's not really a signal of anything!

Hi there,
partner time is too valuable to waste on a candidate they are not interested in. So I would assume that you were seriously considered during the interview.
Oftentimes partners will assume that a candidate has been thoroughly vetted in terms of math and analytical skills in the rounds leading up to the final interview. So it is not uncommon that they don't feel like going through all these motions as well. They might rather want to test your suitability in terms of general critical thinking, awareness of current (industry) trends, personal fit with their team and presentability towards their clients.
You'll just have to wait for the official feedback. Everything else is speculation.
Fingers crossed

Hi there,
Q: The partner only really cased me for 15 minutes… does this mean they have already filled their quota and were just humoring me?
It is not possible to deduct much from it.
In one of my interviews with partners, I didn’t get any case questions – the whole interview was a fit chat. I did get the offer after it.
Overall, the fact that the case part was short doesn’t on its own imply anything specific.
Good luck!
Francesco
