Feedback Between Interview Rounds

I'm aware that it is common for a candidate to ask for feedback between MBB interview rounds.

How does it work for T2 recruitment? Is it okay to ask for feedback to recruiter?

Yes, you can always ask for feedback between interview rounds :) it also shows your commitment to the interview process and that you’re willing to learn and improve yourself! They might not give you a super detailed answer but it won’t harm your chances in the interview process so in my opinion there isn’t much to lose

Hi,

Yes you can also request for feedback between rounds at T2. I've done it before and so have many of my coachees.

Whether or not they will respond or respond on time though - that's out of your control. But no harm asking :)

All the best!

Hi there,

Yes, it’s generally okay to ask for feedback between rounds in T2 recruiting, though it’s usually less structured than at MBB. Recruiters may share high level pointers or simply confirm that you’re progressing, both are normal.

The best approach is a polite note to the recruiter after a round, framing it as wanting to focus your preparation for the next stage.

Best,
Evelina

hey there :)

Yes, it is absolutely fine and it is usually done via the recruiter rather than the interviewer. Just kto ask eep it polite and framed as wanting to improve for the next round, and in many cases they will share high level guidance if available. Feel free to reach out if you want help wording the message or have more questions.

best,
Alessa :)

Hi there,

It is always okay to ask for interview feedback, regardless of the firm.

Even if they don't have the standard practice to do so, there nothing to lose by asking (politely).

Best,

Emily

That's a sharp question. You're right that at MBB, there's often a built-in mechanism for coaching top candidates between rounds—sometimes explicitly facilitated by the recruiter or a consultant mentor—because they have significant resources invested in optimizing the funnel.

When you move into the Tier 2 space, the dynamic shifts. While it is certainly okay to ask your recruiter, the likelihood of receiving substantive, actionable feedback dramatically drops. The recruitment teams at these firms are often running much leaner, and their processes are less standardized for mid-stream coaching. Sharing specific interview critiques between rounds introduces administrative friction and, frankly, creates a risk exposure that firms are generally keen to avoid if the process is still ongoing.

Because of this institutional reality, your best bet is to focus entirely on intense self-reflection. Don't rely on the recruiter for a formal debrief. Re-run the cases you did immediately after the interview, noting exactly where you felt hesitation (was it structuring, specific math, or synthesis?), and then bring in a strong mock partner to drill those specific weak points before your next round. You have to assume no external feedback is coming and treat the silence as your cue to perfect your own performance.

All the best with the next round.

Hi there,

You can absolutely ask for feedback - worst case, they will just say no.

Absolutely.

And make sure that when you do receive feedback, if it feels vague, ask for specific examples of what you did and how it should be improved.

The clearer you are on the feedback that you need to work on, the better. This will allow you to tailor your prep for the upcoming interviews.

If you have any specific questions, don't hesitate to reach out directly.

Best,
Cristian
