estimating the number of lean internet routers in a country

Hello,

How should I approach estimating the number of lean internet routers in a country? I was given this question in an interview and failed at it. The interviewer told me it's basically a router that is only connected to the internet (normally internet and cellular come as a bundle)

Thanks

Hi Deniz,

I would do the following:

1) Clarify what lean internet routers actually are…including their use case

2) Define # of households in the US

3) Break down households on whichever network ties best to #1 (as in, if “lean” means cheap, I want to break down by income. If “lean” means rural/bad access, I'd break down by geography, etc. etc.)

4) Estimate # of households with internet period, then what % would have a lean router specificalyl based on the breakdown I'm using in #3

From what I know about about routers - never seen then come with cellular. Can you give us more details that you gathered from the interviewer?
